YouTube may be undertaking another visual transformation, this time targeting the video page. The relocation of comments and other details to the periphery constitutes a significant change in the interface. It is evident that the redesign’s primary objective is to emphasize other videos for viewers to watch, using much larger thumbnails. However the early users who got to test the feature provided mixed reviews on Twitter.

YouTube has updated its re-application policies for the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), affecting new applicants and suspended channels. Rejected channels will have specific timeframes to appeal and wait before reapplying, aiming to prioritize timely reviews. The channels in YPP that are suspended will also have a timeframe to appeal and wait before reapplying, except in certain cases.

At the YouTube NewFronts presentation, the company announced on 1st May that it’s rolling out new ad formats to its short-form feature Shorts. With the update, advertisers can now upload a 60-second vertical video in order to reach engaged viewers. Thus YouTube wants to gain more advertising revenue and beat it’s biggest shorts competitor Tiktok.

Twitch

In one hour, Spanish streamer Ibai sells 60,000 tickets for his boxing bout. The event will pit 12 of the biggest Spanish-speaking streamers in Spain and Latin America against each other, including Ampeter, PapiGavi, Rivers, Luzu, and Fernanfloo. One of the most anticipated fights during the event is between Amouranth, the first English-speaking streamer to compete in one of Llanos’ boxing tournaments, and Mayichi, a Spanish streamer.

Tiktok

TikTok just gave advertisers a fun new tool to explore top-performing ads and help refine their own ad copy by exploring keyword insights.

TikTok said on May 3rd that it is launching a product that would allow advertisers to display ads alongside content produced by premium publishers, with half of the ad money going to those publishers. According to the firm, it is an expansion of TikTok’s Pulse program, which allows advertisers to position their brand next to the top 4% of content on the platform.

TikTok announced that it’s opening its revamped creator fund, called the “Creativity Program Beta,” to all eligible creators in the United States. The company initially began testing the new program with select creators in February. TikTok says the new program is designed to generate higher revenue and unlock more real-world opportunities for creators.

Twitter

Twitter API is now free for public announcement accounts. Government or publicly-owned service accounts can now provide real-time automated updates on emergency services, weather, and traffic, among other things. Many others considered paying for access to the Twitter API to be prohibitively expensive.

There is currently a bug on Twitter wherein legacy blue check holders can update their bio and briefly get their badge back.
